Happy Birthday to my first writing mentor, Sylvia Plath. I was 17 when I discovered her and she was the first female writer that said to me, “Yep, even us girls can write.” Thanks, SP. Love, SP.
Sylvia Plath wrote the first villanelle I loved, “A Mad Girl’s Love Song.” For a brilliant re-creation of the last months of her life, be sure to read Kate Moses’ book “Wintering.”
I am going to print this and post it above my writing desk. For NaNoWrimo and beyond.
Do you remember where exactly she said all this? In poems or journals, on page 17 of The Bell Jar?
Thank you for this, muchly.
Oh, and something I meant to ask: have you bought running shoes yet? If not, I want to send you money for a decent pair of them. A gift. From your friend in Luxembourg who owns about 12 pairs, and who thinks running is perfect for writers & mummies & for keeping thighs lean and minds sane.
Sharyn- I’ve read it! Your paintings are wonderful!
Cecile- I am so glad to know you are doing NaNoWriMo! It rules! Her journals did most of the talking for me–and her letters. WOW about the shoe offer–how kind! THANK YOU. I have not bought shoes yet!
Everything on this blog is copyright of Summer Pierre, unless otherwise noted! Please do not steal my stuff! I know I should think of it as an honor, but I don't!

Thank you, Summer. I am just beginning to enjoy your art and look forward to many more posts.
